kilcunda about

I would just love to give you some deserved feedback on what a wonderful day it was.
A mate and I came down to do the run and we hadn’t done it before. I know Kilcunda so expected it to be beautiful. The weather was superb but the trail really blew us away, how magnificent it was. We are so lucky to have places like this to enjoy.
The event itself was a really nice mix of organised and relaxed – not always an easy combo to pull off. We will definitely be back again, big thanks to everybody involved.

Kilcunda Half Marathon—February 2021

Just wanted to say what an amazing time I had yesterday.
I ran the 21k run and it was super hard but so amazing. What spectacular views to be the back drop for this event. You and all the other volunteers were fantastic so well run. I was part of the FBFM team that run and we have not stopped talking about it. I might do just the 8k next year so I can really appreciate those views.
So thank you again.

Kilcunda Half Marathon—February 2018

Event Information

Enjoy running along rolling grassy slopes and sandy beaches and striding up challenging hills located between the cliffs overlooking the Southern Ocean and rolling green fields with cattle grazing contentedly.

This is definitely a run for the beginner trail runner, the road runner that is jaded and wants to get out there for great scenery and great running and just wants to be re-invigorated by the great outdoors, as well as the experienced trail runner just wanting a great run.

In 2022 we introduced a new 1 km beach run and sand castle building competition for the kids (bring your own bucket and spade), a 5 km out and back cliff top run for adults and children and extending the traditional 8 km run to 10 km to give runners a beach running experience. In addition we have added more coastal views to all distances.

Starting in the reserve adjacent to the caravan park, this delightful run takes in some picturesque coastline and deserted beaches on an out and back course. After the run there is the opportunity for a quiet drink and lunch over at the Kilcunda Pub or General Store and then an opportunity to explore the rail trail or Wonthaggi Coal Mine.

Participants are asked to be considerate of and give way to walkers and other track users. Water and first aid will be available at the start /finish at Kilcunda and at Punchbowl Road. Runners are responsible for their own safety and assume full liability for their participation.

Parents are responsible for children at all times in the 1 km beach run and castle building competition.

There will be a pre race briefing taking place just prior to the start. Weather conditions could be hot and sunny. All runners should be prepared with water, sun hat and sun screen.

Withdrawals: Runners withdrawing during the event must notify the event staff.
